Generosity does not begin with a gift. It begins with the desire to make an impact and the knowledge that gifts of all sizes can make a big difference to the recipient.

At Holy Spirit, donors’ past generosity has made a positive impact on the lives of our residents and our facility. Gifts to Holy Spirit provide equipment necessary to care for our residents, furniture to create a cozy and inviting home-like atmosphere, and most recently, help fund our beautiful 30 room skilled nursing addition. We are very grateful for donors’ past support, however our work to provide the best possible retirement home community for our residents continues.

Holy Spirit Retirement Home is also a member of Leave a Message Siouxland.  This group was inspired by the message of the potential of planned giving and how it can transform communities. The Founding Partners embarked on a mission to inform and inspire donors to explore the possibilities of including a gift to charity in their estate plans.

If you are interested in supporting Holy Spirit for future generations, please take a few minutes to fill out the Holy Spirit Statement of Intent of Future Gift form.  It can be returned to the Marketing & Development Office: 1701 W. 25th St. Sioux City, IA 51103.

85% of Americans give to charity yearly, yet only 6% of estates indicate a planned gift to charity.

The top reasons why a donor does not leave a gift are:

– Nobody asked.

– Their professional advisor did not mention it.

– The donor did not think of it.

One way to make a significant impact is through a bequest in a will. A bequest can be:

A specific amount.
A percentage of your estate.
The remainder of your estate after other specifications have been fulfilled.

Bequests to charitable organizations such as Holy Spirit are deductible from your estate, meaning tax savings are possible. If you have a bequest for Holy Spirit, please let us know as we would like to recognize you.

You may support Holy Spirit through a life insurance policy by naming the organization as a beneficiary of the whole policy, a percentage of the face value, a specific dollar amount or as a contingency beneficiary. In addition, you may also transfer ownership of the policy to Holy Spirit and receive a charitable deduction for part of the cash value of the policy.

A charitable gift annuity provides income for life to the donor and the donor’s spouse, depending on whether the gift is for one life or for two lives. Gifts made in exchange for a gift annuity are eligible for a charitable income tax deduction for a portion of the amount contributed in the year the gift annuity is created. In addition, only a portion of the annual income the donor receives is taxable income.
